I Love You.
The British spelling of this quintet's name hints more at their moody, stadium-seeking sound than their SoCal address. Then again, there's a whole lot of West Coast-isms defining The Neighbourhood's debut, which works hip-hop-inspired rhythms and vocal exercises into sleek synth-pop symphonies (think Maroon 5 and Sublime shot into space). Everything's on a grand scale here, from the very first words ("How could you question God's existence when you question God himself?") to the limitless layers of star-gazing instrumentation. Songs like "Sweater Weather" and "Female Robbery" are radio gold.
