Spanish chanteuse Beatriz Luengo takes a languid, hazy-afternoon-nap (in Jamaica? or Barcelona) approach to Bela. Acoustic guitars and sunny cafe-pop beats skip in and out of the picture; several tracks are warmed by beaming brass strains that lie somewhere between banda and jazz; and just about every inch of the album is dub-sweetened. It's an enticing environment packed with little surprises (like her acoustic cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" or the swampy blues of "Platos Rotos"). So naturally, everyone wants to stop by, including Ziggy Marley and Reik's Jesus Navarro.
